Sharikova Rezeda Dilshatovna, Doctor of philological sciences, associate professor, head of sub-department of foreign languages, Naberegny Chelny State pedagogical Institute, email@example.com
This article deals with the epistemic function of the german modal words angeblich and vorgeblich which serve to convey the knowledge “of second hand”. It is stated that in the use of these lexemes the source of the information remains implicit. The analysis shows that for the speaker it is more important to mark the secondariness of the information the certainty of which he doubts than to indicate the source of this information.
